What is League of Legends?

League of Legends (LoL) is one of the world’s most popular competitive games, played by millions every day. Unlike shooters such as Fortnite, CS:GO, or Valorant, League is less about reflexes and aiming, and more about strategy, teamwork and communication. Success comes from coordinating with your team, making smart decisions, and adapting to the ever-changing game.

A match consists of two teams of five battling across an arena called Summoner’s Rift. Each team must defend their base while trying to destroy the enemy’s Nexus. To get there, players fight through towers, minions, and enemy champions. Matches usually last 20–40 minutes and require both quick thinking and team strategy.

League of Legends champions

Your champion is the hero you control in each match. With more than 170 champions to choose from, every one brings unique abilities and strengths to the battlefield. Champions are designed to fill different roles within the team, from durable tanks to high‑damage mages, agile marksmen, supportive allies, and roaming junglers.

League of Legends is built around five positions, with each one shaping the team through its own playstyle and responsibilities.”

Top Lane (Tank/Fighter): Durable champions who hold their ground and initiate fights

Jungle: Roams the map, ambushes enemies, and secures objectives like dragons and barons.

Mid Lane (Mage/Assassin): High-damage spellcasters or assassins who control the centre of the map.

Bot Lane – Marksman (ADC): Ranged damage dealers who scale into the late game.

Support: Protects and empowers the ADC, provides vision and utility to the team.
